Coronavirus: Trafford offers help with Council Tax payments

Forwarded

Trafford Council recognises these are difficult times for many families and is offering help to those struggling to pay Council Tax bills. The COVID-19 virus is having a significant impact on people’s lives so the Council is taking steps to make life easier for residents. If you are struggling to pay your Council Tax, please:

Get in touch with us. We would encourage anyone who is struggling, to contact us at council.tax@trafford..gov.uk so that we can ensure that you are getting all of the support that you are entitled to.

  • We may be able to agree to a special payment plan so that the Council Tax due for 2020/21 is split over nine months, from July 2020 to March 2021, meaning that in some cases you will not have to pay anything until July.

  • We also have a dedicated caseworker service, who can offer you information and advice on a range of welfare benefits and budgeting support, you can contact the team on caseworkers@trafford.gov.uk

  • Make sure that you have claimed all of the benefits that you are entitled to. For working age families this is Universal Credit from the DWP and Council Tax Support from the Council.
