Coronavirus: Altrincham Conservatives call for pub gardens to reopen

Although the non-essential shops will reopen from 15th of June in England, pubs, restaurants and hotels are not due to reopen until at least July.

Altrincham relies heavily on hospitality and has many residents employed in the sector and local Conservatives believe that getting staff back at work will help avert even higher unemployment figures.

I think it is time for outdoor eating and drinking where it is safe to do so. Many residents and businesses across Altrincham wish our pubs, and restaurants and cafes to reopen. It is the fact that the transmission rate of COVID-19 is low in the open air than in indoors. With the arrangement of social distancing and appropriate technologies, it is believed that it will be safe for alfresco dining to take place.
